Summary

Usage

When serum albumin levels are low, patients with suspected hypocalcemia may present with a serum calcium level in the "normal" range. This tool will calculate a corrected calcium level for patients with hypoalbuminemia. An ionized calcium level is an additional confirmatory test for hypocalcemia.

.

Summary

This tool will calculate a corrected calcium level in mg/dL and mmol/L. The following formula calculates the corrected calcium.

Corrected Calcium = (0.8 * (Normal Albumin - Patient's Albumin)) + Serum Calcium

Note: The formula assumes albumin in g/dL.
